Types of blood.Everyone has a blood type and they can be one of the following: O- O+ B+ b- A+ A- AB+ AB- Your blood can help at least 3 lives. Even if you are a different blood types. Different blood types can be compatible with each other. For example O- can be donated to anybody no mater there blood type because it is a universal.

why donateDonate blood in order to save lives. one donation can svae a total of three lifes. Once the blood has been drawn from the body it is tested for diseases and std's. Once approved it is seperated into plasma, platelets, red blood cells, white blood cells, and whole blood cells.

mythsThey say that you can't donate blood if you have dibeties but that is not true, now you can. Also you can't give blood if you are a vegetarians because of the lack of iron, but the body only need a month to replace any iron that is needed to be healthy. Another myth is that it hurts to give blood, but the pain is only like geting a shot.

processStep one: Before donating eat well, good nights sleep and drink plenty of fluids
Step two: Donor registration, you will complete a series of donor questions ( name, address, phone number, etc) and a few questions about your health. Step three: Receive a mini-physical, this will determen if you are healthy enough to donate Step four: Blood donation, you will recline in a donor chair. one phlebotomist will prepare your arm it is 100% safe of disease you are not at risk of getting a disease from donating. It lasts typically 45 minutes to donate on unit of blood |
